Work-Life Harmony Playbook Guide

Empowering Happy, Healthy, High-Performing Teams

I attended a webinar about crafting a culture of work-life harmony from a big-name company (name withheld to protect the guilty) and left with…nothing.  They preached about how important work-life harmony is (yes, we know!), tossed around stats on how it positively impacts well-being and boosts productivity, and then hit us with the usual advice: “Give employees breaks,” “Encourage time off,” “Set boundaries.” Sound familiar?

I left feeling frustrated. Not because those things aren’t helpful—they are—but because there were no fresh ideas or detailed actionable insights that I felt would move the needle.

Fueled by that frustration, we set out to do our own research and provide leaders with the tools they need to bridge the gap between knowing the importance of work-life harmony and actually making it happen.

The result? The Work-Life Harmony Playbook. We are so thrilled to bring you this interactive guide— available as a digital editable Google Doc and a downloadable PDF— that skips the fluff and dives deep into the 6 pillars of work-life Harmony, gifting you play-by-play strategies for each. You’ll find compelling insights, like the diversity of work-life styles—did you know 26% of people are separators (preferring to keep work and life distinct), 35% are integrators (embracing fluidity between the two), and 39% fall somewhere in between?

We’ve packed the playbook with actionable tips, and thought-provoking discussion prompts like:

  •  “Imagine our team had a ‘well-being genie’ who could grant one wish to improve your work-life harmony. What would you wish for?”

  • “My ideal work-life harmony involves saying yes to more things in and outside of work like __________ and being able to say no to more things like __________.”

Perhaps the biggest highlight—a hands-on Work-Life Synergy Session. This collaborative exercise allows you and your team to co-create a tailored version of the playbook, ensuring it reflects your unique needs and contributions because well-being isn’t handed down from on high – it’s something you need to create together.

What Else is Inside:

  • Implement the “15% White Space Rule” to protect time.
  • Create an inclusive team communication agreement that works for “separators” and “integrators” alike.
  • Identify unconscious commitments that sabotage harmony.
  • Meeting makeover steps to eliminate unproductive meetings and reclaim valuable time.
  • Building accountability systems to amplify autonomy.
  • Embracing deep work and “do not disturb” zones.
  • Optimize pacing for rhythms that produce the most high-quality work.

Work-Life Harmony is CRAFTED by you, it is not given to you. If you put this playbook to work, and take the insights to heart, you will make a big impact on your team and show them you care about their well-being. You’ll cultivate a culture where both people and performance thrive.

The 15% White Space Rule for Work-Life Harmony

“Give it your all.” We’ve all heard this mantra, whether from motivational speakers or well-meaning mentors. But here's the truth bomb: we're not built to operate at 110% all the time. Heck, we're not even meant to function at a constant 100%. Trying to hit that...
